During the warmer months, many change their heavy foundations for the lighter feel of a tinted moisturizer. This can be a problem for women with oily/combination skin who tend to avoid moisturizing products. The Kiss My Face Tinted Moisturizer is a great solution; it offers the lightweight coverage of a tinted moisturizer, with the the mattifying affect of a matte foundation.
Color Selection
This product comes in six shades with Manilla being the lightest and Branch being the darkest. The shades are generally yellow toned, but many prefer a slight yellow tone to counter redness in the complexion. Ideally, there would be more than six shades, but if you find one to match you than you're in luck. The shade I've tried is in Manilla and it is light enough for very pale skin tones.
Price
According to the Kiss My Face website, this product retails for about $9.99. Each bottle comes with 1.4 fluid ounces, which is larger than the standard one ounce for most foundations.
No Animal Testing
Kiss My Face is a cruelty-free company, the owners are also vegetarians who care about animal rights. Not all of their products are vegan, but most are. This product in particular does not contain any animal byproducts.
Coverage, Finish, and Lasting Power
This product has a matte finish, which is unusual for a tinted moisturizer. This makes the product ideal for women with oily/combination skin. It does cling to dry patches on the skin, so make sure to moisturize and prime your face for the best application of the product. It lasts a good six to eight hours without breaking down or oxidizing, but it does need occasional touch up with blotting powder throughout the day. Coverage is light to medium so you will need to use a concealer with this product if you want full coverage. Light to medium coverage does tend to look a bit more natural.
Ingredients
This product has no animal byproducts, and contains no artificial dyes. It is a mineral based liquid makeup and has an SPF 8 because of the titanium dioxide in the product. Glycerin is also known for its moisturizing properties, but it can cause skin irritation to sensitive and acne prone skin. A lot of their products are natural, which is often difficult to find in affordable liquid makeup products. This tinted moisturizer contains no parabens, which have been linked to causing cancer.
Overall Rating (4/5)
This product has a lot of great things going for it; it's paraben-free, mineral-based, vegan, cruelty-free, and affordable. One con to this product is that the line should offer a wider range of colors, including darker tones and pink based tones. Also, it does tend to stick to dry skin patches, so be careful to moisturize and prime prior to using. This is more of a light weight, matte foundation than a tinted moisturizer, which those with oily/combo skin will appreciate.
